How the Fatherhood Institute has put dads on the map since 1999

Since 1999 the Fatherhood Institute has been advocating for involved fatherhood, reaching out to key audiences of professionals and policymakers to communicate a range of messages, supported by an ever-growing evidence base showing that fathers – dead or alive, good, bad or indifferent – matter. In this short paper, funded by the Bernard Van Leer Foundation, joint chief executive Adrienne Burgess tells the story of the FI’s groundbreaking work, from its first beginnings as Fathers Direct to the present day.
