FI conference – ‘The Dad Factor’: brilliant ideas for involving fathers in schools and children’s learning

Published: 13 January 2011

Friday 18 March 2011 in the Royal Horticultural Halls, London, SW1P 2PE

Join us at this major conference to explore how to mobilise the unique contribution fathers can make to their children’s educational attainment and learning.

Where schools and early years services are proactive in their approach to engaging fathers they see a significant increase in the numbers of fathers involved in the life of the school – both in supporting children’s learning and in governance.

The event will focus on how to develop effective approaches to engaging fathers of all children, particularly those from poorer backgrounds.

Schools and early years services which have engaged fathers in specific support to children with low levels of attainment have seen substantive improvements in children’s learning.

Who will be speaking

Delegates will hear from a range of professionals from education and early years as well as from fathers themselves about the secrets of their success. This will be of particular interest to schools as they develop their thinking on how to use the Pupil Premium.

Delegates will also hear from a range of inspiring speakers including a Government Minister (TBC) about what the Coalition’s agenda for schools means for engaging fathers, and from the Institute’s own Head of Research (Adrienne Burgess) on the latest evidence about the impact of father’s involvement on children’s attainment, aspirations and achievement.
