Option A: Standard

A 2-day training course to help managers, front-line workers and volunteers in Children’s Centres and other early years settings:
• develop the confidence, knowledge and skills to work effectively with fathers
• explore and develop strategies to engage with fathers
• think about how to create a ‘whole team’ approach to engaging fathers
• plan needs-led approaches to engaging with and supporting fathers
• consider how to use networks to support fathers.

Participants on the course explore:
• why fathers are so important to children
• barriers to positive father-child engagement in families where mum and dad are together, and where they are not
• how early years services can reinforce these barriers, and how they can break them down
• the personal and cultural issues which shape our perceptions of men/fathers
• effective recruitment strategies.

Option B: Accredited

We also offer a more in-depth version of this course, accredited with the Open College Network to provide the equivalent of 2 credits at NVQ Level 3. This involves an initial two-day course plus 10 hours of independent study and a third training day, resulting in a portfolio focused on planning a father-inclusive service, and reflecting on your work practices.

Option C: Introductory

We offer an introductory version of this course, in which participants explore and develop strategies to engage with fathers, begin to develop the confidence, knowledge and skills to work effectively with fathers and discover a ‘whole team’ approach to engaging fathers.

Up to 15 participants with 1 trainer: £2,800 plus up to £150 per day trainer expenses
Up to 25 participants with 2 trainers:  £3,600 plus up to £300 per day trainer expenses

Option B: Accredited (3-day)
Up to 15 participants with 1 trainer: £4,200 plus up to £150 per day trainer expenses
Up to 25 participants with 2 trainers: £5,400 plus up to £300 per day trainer expenses

Option C: Introductory (1-day)
Up to 15 participants with 1 trainer: £1,400 plus up to £150 per day trainer expenses
Up to 25 participants with 2 trainers: £1,800 plus up to £300 per day trainer expenses
