Promoting reading to dads and sons

19 January 2007

The National Literacy Trust is advertising for a project manager to promote reading to men and boys, as part of its National Reading Campaign.

The post, which offers a unique opportunity to contribute at the centre of a national campaign to promote reading for pleasure and literacy skills, is London based. Via imaginative schemes involving boys and men promoting
reading in schools and other institutions, the Reading Champions scheme works to encourage male readers, and the successful applicant will need to understand the factors that make some males reluctant readers, and have the drive and organisational skills both to develop the scheme and to provide the support to embed its influence.

The salary for the post is £25,000 to £27,000, plus 8% pension contribution and 28 days’ annual leave. For more information and an application pack visit the National Literacy Trust website or phone Jacky Taylor on 020 7828 2435. The closing date for applications is 31 January 2007.
