An Evening with Richard Hardy, from Care for the Family

"I find one of the hardest things to do as a father is to ‘get over’ getting it wrong. If you’re a dad, I think you’ll know what I mean. Life is sometimes a bit of a juggling act, with work, social commitments, family life, and everything else. That’s why I’m presenting A Rough Guide for Dads, organised by Care for the Family, in your area soon.

During this dads-only evening, we’re going to have some fun, watch some film clips and chat about the ups-and-downs of fatherhood. I’m not promising to have all the answers – I’m not even sure there always are right answers – but together we can ask the important question: how do I give this my best shot?

One thing I’d suggest is to ‘be silly once a day’. If it’s not in your job description to have fun with your children, then it’s time to rewrite it! Laugh at their jokes, even if you’ve heard them before. Be a kid again, sometimes. Dirt washes off, clothes dry out, hair dye fades, but memories stay for a long, long time.

You’ll find out more at A Rough Guide for Dads in Newport on Tuesday 25 April and Swansea on Wednesday 26 April. Tickets cost just £6.

Visit www.justfordads.org.uk to find out more or call on (029) 2081 0800.

There’s a special booking offer too if you can get some of your mates together for a ‘night out with the dads’."
