Dads invited to share views on education

23 August 2006

Dads could help shape the way children’s performance at schools is assessed, by contributing to a seminar being run by the teachers’ professional body, the General Teaching Council.

The seminar, to be held in London on 3 November, will focus on assessment – one of the most talked about issues in education – and will consider questions such as:

  • What is the best way to assess pupil learning?
  • Has the balance swung too far in the direction of external testing and targets?
  • Is the time right for change?

The GTC also wants dads (and mums) to discuss the detail of its proposals for the future of assessment, which have been drawn up over the last few years.

Travel expenses at standard rate rail fare or equivalent will be paid. If you would like to attend or want to find out more, email Sam Haidar or telephone on 020 7023 3933.
